A little bit about me:
Hi! My name is Jamie. I'm a highschool student here in West Vancouver and a soccer player in the BCSPL (the BC Soccer Premiere League). I play for Vancouver United as a striker and a midfielder. I started playing soccer when I was 4 years old. When I was around 8 , I decided that I wanted to play on the women's national team, so I asked my dad if I could start doing extra training. And when I started putting in the extra work... my soccer started to really take off and I began to stand out on the pitch!
These days I train 10-15 hours a week, including: distance running, sprinting, strength and agility work and of course LOTS OF SOCCER! When not doing soccer I spend a LOT of time studying. I also love singing in my high school choirs, and I also enjoy cross country, track and field and snowboarding!
As a coach I am very kind and patient. I am super encouraging, love to laugh, and have tons of energy!
What I know about coaching:
As a high level player, I know a LOT about soccer skills and technique. And having been a soccer coach for 3 years? I know a lot about working with young players! But the truth is, there are more important reasons for why your daughter should work with me:
ROLE MODELS - One of the challenges that young female soccer players have is that there are not a lot of examples that they can model themself after. It is hard to aspire to be your very best if you don't have examples that you can relate to or identify with. I started to become a more competitive player when I found my own role models that inspired me to be my best!
POSITIVE COACHING - Soccer should be FUN! I have had a lot of excellent soccer coaches who have helped me develop my skills on my soccer journey, but I have noticed that the VERY BEST COACHES are always coaching a love of the game - they always work to make soccer FUN! These coaches help their players to develop their skills, but they also coach players to help them believe that if they work hard and have a great attitude that they can accomplish ANYTHING! Coaching skill is important, but coaching a player to believe in themself is ESSENTIAL!
The Power of 1 on 1 TRAINING - team and group training is important, but nothing will help a player develop their confidence and skills faster than working one on one with a coach who is focused on figuring out who you are as a player, and then helping you develop exactly what you need to take your soccer game to the next level! In a one on one session with me your child will get coaching designed exclusively for them and will get several times the number of quality touches that they would get in a typical practice.
